Dudley’s Toffee began in 2013 with a simple idea and a meaningful family tradition. The recipe was lovingly passed down through a longtime friend of Brian’s mother, who made the toffee each holiday season and shared it at church events and family gatherings. It quickly became a favorite, and people often encouraged the family to find a way to share it with more than just friends and neighbors.

Inspired by that encouragement, Brian officially started the business and named it Dudley’s Toffee in honor of Dudley Avenue, the street where his parents lived in Indianapolis. In the beginning, it was more of a dream than a formal operation. After more than thirty years in the printing industry, Brian was stepping into something completely new.

Everything changed in 2014.

A colleague encouraged Brian to package the toffee in printing ink cans as a creative nod to his background and bring them to the Apple and Pork Festival in Clinton, Illinois. Brian produced one hundred twenty pounds of toffee and set up a small booth outside a craft mall. By the end of the weekend, he had sold every single piece. That moment proved this family recipe had an audience far beyond friends and relatives.

Like many small businesses, Dudley’s Toffee faced challenges during the pandemic, and Brian was eventually forced to close that location. But the story didn’t end there.

In 2024, Brian and his wife purchased a home in Beech Grove. With a renewed sense of purpose, Brian transformed their garage into a certified commercial kitchen, fully approved by the Indiana Department of Health and registered with the Food and Drug Administration. It was a return to the heart of the original idea — small batches, careful craftsmanship, and a product made to be shared.

Today, Dudley’s Toffee continues to honor its roots while reaching more communities across the country. Through a growing online presence and steady involvement in local markets, the mission remains simple: share the sweetness of handcrafted toffee with as many people as possible.

Dudley’s Toffee is built on family, community, and a recipe that brings people together. That same commitment to quality and care is at the center of every batch we make.
